What led me to A Course in Miracles by Denise Burley

What led me to A Course in Miracles was meant to be for I believe nothing is at random, we are all destined to awaken to the light and to truly look upon each other with love.

My journey in life, I believe is through healing and had a wonderful experience of Jesus coming through some years back in my very early twenties and his message was that he has given me “A gift for healing,” I immediately thought that I would receive divine powers and go and heal all and everyone…Lol. Off course, it was the healing of the mind…

I have had many experiences and it really started in my early twenties whilst living in Jersey, channel islands, trying to escape my hidden conflicts and believing that travel would be the answer lol…My Managing Director, at the time had given me a copy of the new testament that was hidden away somewhere in his office…I was always asking deep and meaningful questions and reading the bible and loving Jesus’ message about love and forgiveness; truly opened my heart and made me weep.

Yet the busyness of life obscured my function and I was looking for the effect on the world for my deep wounded feelings of abandonment and blaming everyone for it.

One night whilst feeling that I must try and improve my life and decided to change some of my bad habits ( the list is too long lol) I experienced a vision of Jesus in the flesh, yet witnessed this in my mind’s eye, he was standing in my garden with his head down and his hands outstretched, slightly each side…I remember thinking how beautiful the colour of his hair…glowing with auburn shade, I did not see his face as his head was facing downwards…To be honest with you, I found the whole experience quite overwhelming and very frightening?

You might think that after that experience that I would have at least become a little more vigilant for our Father, unfortunately, I became very depressed and sometime much later in my early thirties I suffered a nervous breakdown and really didn’t want to be here any longer…

Many months later I found some courage through counseling and soon met my husband to be, had children and life was bearable lol. Yet I still felt there was so much lacking in my life…

Five years ago after reading many spiritual books, Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Gary Renard CWG,a whole spiritual buffet of books that really helped answer lots of my questions… led me to the Course in Miracles, Here I found my home; here I found my holy assignment; here I found my brother once again… studying the text has given me so much peace, so many little Holy instances, as well as using the workbook ( three times round) There are still much debris within, and sometimes there are days when I weep, yet tears are a great source of opening the heart, bringing oneself closer to our source, God, a true blessing.

I feel this has been my healing time of forgiveness, not for what we have done but for what we haven’t really done at all.

I have had some beautiful experiences, with many light episodes, happening on a daily basis and have had Jesus come to me through a voice saying; “There is a lamb at thy door”, and through many tears of unworthiness, said that he has given me a gift for healing; How lovely to know our brother is with us guiding us to our destination, we need not worry, we need only be still and let Him lead the way…

It has been a joy to share with you and I hope very much that it can and will encourage others to choose a path that will benefit as the Course in Miracles have helped open my heart to all.

Much love,
Denise Burley

I wish more people would write blogs like this that are actually fun to read. With all the fluff floating around on the net, it is rare to read a blog like yours instead.
