In modern life there are few examples of ‘solidarity’ in the everyday. We all lead such separate lives and society is set up to make us fight for survival on a daily basis. So we get too busy or pre-occupied with our own lives to notice, or have time for, those around us.

However there seems to be a wonderful opportunity to create a kind of Cyber-solidarity with those we meet online.

Gone is the old image of solidarity of ‘workers in the street with pitchforks’, the modern age brings us a new image of an army of ‘like-minded individuals sitting at their computers with a cup of tea’. Sounds funny I know but it is quite incredible to consider the possibilities available to us and I am certain there will come a time when we can all help to make a difference just by joining together online.

With the aforementioned I am not saying that voting for one of my songs is comparable with creating world peace but it is a tiny reference point of us working together to achieve a particular aim.

I can’t think of another recent example when I felt a sense of solidarity in my life, so it is always a pleasure to reacquainted with such an important feeling and I hope to feel it again soon for an even more worthwhile reason.

I really like the following quote…it reminds me of the basics and I think we humans need reminding of the basics everyday…

So…thanks to you my gorgeous friends not only did I get to number 1 the first time round but I am also number 1 again this week!!

Promoting music can be hard work at times and if you are trying to reach specific goals, mostly on your own efforts, it is really, really invaluable to get help from your friends!! I appreciate all you’ve done for me!

Getting coverage across the media is so important for any artist to survive and once you appear on one it makes it more feasible to get onto others. The 20 seconds you spend voting might seem like a quick and easy thing to do but it is contributing to so much more.

Also…

I will be playing live this year, not just in the UK, and will let you know as soon as dates are confirmed. As you probably know by now I have been putting a new band together, hence the delay. It is best to register on my website for full updates. Myspace is great but sometimes, because of the few technical problems which can occur with messages etc, it can be an unstable platform and isn’t the best way for me to reach you and you to keep in touch with me. I am also going into the studio soon for a photo shoot!
