1st Degree Reiki

You do not need to know any symbols to perform First degree Reiki.

1st Degree Reiki is a simple hands on healing. This doesn't necessarily mean that you have to touch someone. It is acceptable to have the hands slightly above the body so that they energy is moving through the hands of the giving to the body of the receiving. A Reiki treatment consists of laying the hands over or on the seven major chakras. It has been my experience that anyone can do first degree Reiki even without training. I have yet failed to feel the energy coming from anyones hands. I have had people say that they could not feel the energy coming from my hands or someone else's hands. I believe that they are just not open to it.

I used to "play" Reiki on individuals at friendly gatherings where I would have a volunteer sit in a chair and close their eyes. I would go put my hands close to their body but not touching and sometimes stop and sway my hands back and forth. They would claim that they were getting dizzy and felt like they were going to fall off the chair and we would all have a good laugh. Then my friends would ask me about it and request treatments because they liked the way it felt. In one of my classes our teacher had us pair up and we stood across the room from each other, closed our eyes and walked towards each other stopping when we could feel the other's energy. There are lots of fun things like that that you can do to experience the feeling of the Reiki.

The more you practice the stronger it becomes and the more confident you become!!
